At our 50th Anniversary celebration, March 2019, a Jamaican Rain Tree was planted in Pinecrest Gardens in honor of Mieko's long standing chapter membership, leadership and service to the community. In 2018, Mieko received the Community Recognition Award from the Miami-Dade County Asian American Advisory Board. She has been recognized for her excellence as a traditional artist by the HistoryMiami South Florida Folklife Center. She was an artist-in-residence for fall 2012.
